Musings.
You learn to hold on. You learn to be a pillar of strength to many - friends, acquaintances and peers, people around you. But there are times when you need the strength, just to carry on. Just to be the person that you are, were, want to be. There are times when you need solace in times of discomfort. Then chocolate helps.
But the pain is much deeper and intense at times. When even a bite of chocolate doesn't relieve the hurt and emotional upheaval within you. You need love. A lot of it. You need hugs. You need affection. You need someone to protect you, tell you the world is unkind but you are safe and sound in their arms. You want someone to reassure and love. But chocolate has to make do.
Sometimes the bridge is too big, the chasm too huge to close. Then you need to summon that strength from some deep wellspring in your spirit. You need enormous willpower when things go wrong - when that window appears just a bit more closer. When you stand at the balcony, look out at the moon in the sky, playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. And then maybe you think how exciting it would be to fly, to leap out like a bird and sway along in the airwaves, to feel the cool air hitting your face. You need someone to pull you back.
And you hope that happens when the time comes. Because you'll need all the strength. And someone. Because if you are alone, the spirit might break. Even the reservoir inside might be devoid of nourishment. You might lose the will to survive. And then you need someone beside you at the window, offering a shoulder and a bear hug --- with maybe a piece of chocolate.
