Empty

I don’t know if there are more people who feel the way I do. At this exact moment, there is so much hustle and bustle in the newsroom – it’s the hour before everyone seriously gets down to work (early editions are already working, by the way). The main edit meeting has been done, plans are being finalized, stories being sorted. People are all around, designers are bustling, acquaintances are chatting. And yet, here I am feeling as alone as I have ever felt before. Lonely, to say the least. Alone. Empty. With nothing in my head to do or see or watch or read. It feels as if I am in one of those music videos where a time lapse shows a buzz of activity and flashes of light all around while one person is seated in the midst of all that. That, my friend, is my present state of mind.
