January 1, 2012.
Well, I am not one for partying much. And hanging out in pubs and getting drunk is not my idea of ushering in another year. Stayed at home, cut a cake (decorated with strawberries and chocolate chips) at midnight, took some photographs with my best friend (and the love of my life), and generally goofed around. Then watched Notting Hill for the nth time. Drooled over Hugh Grant's super-delicious Brit accent yet again, ooooh-ed at the bright blue colour of the door of his house in the film again, mouthed the dialogues again, sang 'Nothing at All' again.
Then woke up late in the morning. FRIENDS marathon on Star World. Then played a few rounds of dart with IB, beat him yet again and was chased around the house. Then indulged in a hide-and-seek game to see which one of us was endowed with "Unagi". :D
In the evening, walked close to 10 kilometres to reach the Sector 18 market. Gorged on crispy fried KFC chicken and chocolate shake. Had piping hot chai from a glass tumbler from a vendor on the street, held hands, walked around in a light drizzle. Went to McDonalds and got dinner packed (fries and burgers). Had some more coke, dodged puddles on the road. Played the game of 'Footballers' (an antakshari involving footballers' names). Defeated IB (AGAIN) with a single strike. Got home by 8pm to catch the Sunderland-City match on television.
So pretty much an enjoyable first day of 2012. And I hope for many more like these.
