Stop?
After a point you stop checking your phone every 10 minutes for a notification.
After a point you stop sacrificing your sleep for a call that may or may not come.
After a point you give up checking your phone at work.
After a point you don't deny yourself the everyday chores or move them around or finish them early so you can settle down later for a nice chat and be disappointed after it didn't happen. You just learn to live with it.
After a point you stop looking forward to calls and texts and random pings.
After a point you realise you shouldn't put people on top of your list because you, inevitably, figure towards the end of theirs.
After a point you develop a thick skin.
After a point you stop expecting the written word, emails, poems, the lot.
After a point you stop writing.
After a point you stop saying stuff that irks you because in the grand scheme of things it simply doesn't matter.
After a point you realise it's a totally different person, not you.
