Heath Ledger....RIP!!

I still can't believe that Heath is no more. It feels like a dream, that somehow, I will wake up and find out that it was just a bad joke. But deep down inside me, I know that it is true, it isn't a joke, and that Heath Ledger is gone forever.
I woke up in the morning, the television was on. I could hear hear Sneha screaming excitedly about something. I heard her mention that someone had died, but I couldn't get the name. When I finally walked out of my room, and into the hall (more out of curiousity than having finished my quota of sleep), Sneha shrieked, "You know what Moonie?? Heath Ledger is dead!" And I was rooted to the spot. Stunned. Shocked. Horrified. And then, heart-broken, disappointed, and miserable. I didn't know what to do, or say. I just stood there for five minutes, watching NYPD officials carrying his body in a bodybag for autopsy. I couldn't believe that the twinkly-eyed actor was no more.
I still remember watching A Knight's Tale for the first time. Boy, did I laugh throughout the movie! Heath was just so charismatic in the movie, even as an uncouth, unsophisticated, brazen country bumpkin, who wishes to be a knight. And Brokeback Mountain??? Phew!! What a phenomenal actor! He let loose his entire gamut of emotions, even while closing the lid on the emotional front in the movie. Stern, strong as a mountain, totally masculine, a man of few words, dominating....he brought forth the essence in the character of a married man who falls in love with a fellow cowboy, his friend. Heath also bagged an Oscar nomination for his role in Brokeback Mt, his only Oscar nomination. But I am sure he would have bagged more, especially with his role as that of The Joker in the yet-to-be-released Batman flick, The Dark Knight.
Charming, handsome, well-spoken, down-to-earth, no-frills-attached, low-key, talented, cute, extremely versatile...these are just a few of the words that can be attached to the actor. With his acting prowess, he made his family and country proud of him. And his fans as well. He gave us laughter and joy, mirth and humour. And has left us with lasting sadness in his sudden and unexpected death. Heath Ledger...we'll miss you..Rest in peace with the angels!!
