1-1 At Anfield.....

I am crying right now, while typing this out. Pure unluck for Liverpool. And luck with a capital L for Chelsea. They managed a precious away goal in the last ten seconds of the game.....courtesy John Arne Riise, who was brought on as a substitute when Fabio Aurelio suffered a muscle pull. And the Norwegian international very merrily guided the ball into his own net in the last minute, rather than kicking it away toward the sidelines. I have no idea what he was trying to do, or what he was trying to achieve with those histrionics of his. We could have won the game. We had already almost won it 1-0. Or we could have killed it off in the first leg itself with 2-0. And it could have easily been so had Torres and Kuyt not missed a couple of great chances and Petr Cech not pulled off a couple of tremendous saves. First touches from both our strikers let everyone down hugely. Even though Kuyt did manage to sweep the ball in through the legs of Cech at the stroke of the first half, it did not prove to be enough. Chelsea were awful, except for their very-talented keeper. John Terry should have been shown a card way back before being eventually reprimanded in the later stages of the game. Michael Ballack would have given away a penalty for handling the ball in the box if Terry hadn't been blocking the linesman's view. Joe Cole should have gotten the first goal if he hadn't been sloppy enough. Paulo Ferreira made a couple of wild, swinging tackles which were most unnecessary. And even singing paeans about Didier Drogba won't be enough. His play-acting skills were simply undeniable and top-class, like they always are. He will expect a spot-kick even when he knows he hasn't even been touched. And when he is touched, he rolls over and over and over like a skittle. Even a skittle can learn a trick or two from the dirty, unruly-haired wretch! What's disappointing is that Chelsea did not deserve to get an away goal.....NEVER! And still they got one..... through a costly mistake that could prove to be the goal that sends us out of the tournament.

Maybe its going to be another trophy-less season for us. In all probability. Just like the Gunners, we ran out of luck at the right time. We imploded. Or combusted. Watching ManU win the double will be the most trying period of my life. Hopefully I'll cope well.

YNWA....till 30th ..... hoping an away goal for us shall come to our rescue....!!
